Before choosing between wired and wireless, you need to pick the right camera shape and function for each spot. Here are the four main types we install — with honest advice on where each one works best. Or call us for a free recommendation based on your specific premises.
Dome Camera
A dome camera gets its name from its round, dome-shaped housing. It mounts flush on a ceiling or wall bracket, making it discreet and tamper-resistant. Because the camera lens sits inside a tinted dome, it is difficult for anyone to tell exactly where it is pointing — a powerful psychological deterrent.
Bullet Camera
A bullet camera has a long, cylindrical body — shaped like a bullet — that mounts on a wall or ceiling bracket. The protruding body makes it highly visible, which acts as a strong deterrent at entry points. It is designed for directional, long-distance coverage and is the go-to choice for outdoor use.
PTZ Camera
PTZ stands for Pan-Tilt-Zoom. These cameras can rotate horizontally (pan), tilt up and down, and zoom in optically — all remotely via a controller or your mobile app. One PTZ camera can cover the area of 3–4 fixed cameras in a large open space, as the operator can direct it to any point in real time.
Fisheye Camera
A fisheye camera uses an ultra-wide-angle lens to capture a full 360° or 180° view in a single shot. Mounted on a ceiling, one fisheye camera can cover an entire room with zero blind spots. The footage is "de-warped" by the NVR or viewing app to show a natural, flat-looking image.
| Camera Type | Best Location | Night Vision Range | Typical Use | Recomended For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bullet Camera | Outdoor / Perimeter | 30–50 metres | Gate, driveway, boundary wall | Outdoor Entry Points |
| Dome Camera | Indoor / Covered outdoor | 15–25 metres | 15–25 metres | Homes & Shops |
| PTZ Camera | Large open areas | Up to 100 metres (zoom) | Warehouses, campuses | Commercial / Industrial |
| Fisheye Camera | Open indoor spaces | 10–15 metres | Showrooms, reception halls | Open Commercial Spaces |
